This Sunday continues our lesson series on Rituals of Renewal and Growth. The focus this week is the White Stone Ceremony. This ritual draws its inspiration from the Biblical passage Revelation 2:17. The passage states, “whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says… I will give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.”
As was custom at the time, Romans issued their prisoners a white stone upon release from their servitude. The stone served as proof of their freedom and rebirth into society. Inscribed on the stone was a new name to take into this new life.
The service will also include a reminder of your link with the Spirit Within. This link is there to guide you toward your highest aspirations. Think of it as the music of the heart.
If you become still and listen, you will hear its eternal melody. With this constant beacon to guide you, you can receive clear direction and a deeper sense of your greater purpose. This song is the ballad of your soul. It is waiting for your invitation to fulfill your purpose in being here as a spiritual being living a human life.
Join Reverend Dennis Ashley this Sunday for the White Stone Ceremony and a lesson about the eternal song of Spirit that awaits within to guide you toward your best life.
This ceremony is the second of three new year’s traditions that are common in Unity. Next Sunday, January 15 we will wrap up this lesson series with Letters to God.
Our featured ensemble is S.O.U.L. They are Gwen Gathercoal, Paul Gathercoal, and Dagan Williamson plus special guest Michael Robinson.
