Most conventional bath and body products are sold in single-use plastic containers. Fortunately, there are now plastic-free alternatives available like those from www.longwknd.com. Their products include solid shampoo, conditioner and body-wash blocks as well as deodorant and lip balm. All are packaged in ecologically safe and compostable materials. 

Another option is to use refillable containers. There are bulk stations at local stores like Pilgrims, Bath and Body Works (Silverlake Mall) and Huckleberries (in Spokane).

Factoid: In the United States of America, 552 million plastic shampoo bottles are disposed of each year. Although they are meant to be recycled or safely contained within our local landfills, much of this ubiquitous plastic winds up polluting our environment.
