This Sunday we will be doing something a little different and that is a "Day of the Dead Service." The Day of the Dead or Día de Muertos is a tradition that is over 3000 years old. Its purpose is to honor key people in our lives who have passed away. Reverend Dennis and Maribel Martinez will take us through what the Día de Muertos is all about, what it means, and how it helps you show appreciation for those who touched your life.
If you wish to honor someone in your life who is no longer with us, please bring a photo of them, and a small dish holding a special treat in remembrance of your loved one such as candy, nuts, gum or tobacco. This small dish will be placed along with the photo on the altar (ofrendas) in the Sanctuary.
If possible, you are also encouraged to bring food for the Friendship Sunday Potluck that you know your loved one especially enjoyed. It could be something they liked to make for others or a dish they enjoyed eating. The key is to bring something that was special to them.
Join Reverend Dennis Ashley this Sunday for a lesson about the meaning and power of Día de Muertos -The Day of The Dead.
Our ensemble features vocals by S.O.U.L. – Spiritual Oneness United in Love featuring Gwen and Paul Gathercoal, Patty Ashley and Laura Wineteer. They will be accompanied by Jim Turner.
