A primary aspect of living a life here on Earth is interacting with others. Through your interactions, whether perceived or not, you affect the people you encounter, and they affect you. Sometimes, these effects are positive and welcomed. However, at other times, they can be negative and cause undue harm. Therefore, regardless of the underlying intent, you will cause suffering and others will cause you to suffer as well. Most transgressions are not intentional. Yet, whether real or imagined, it is easy to take them personally.
Fortunately, there is an effective way to release feelings of resentment and restore your peace of mind. This process is known as forgiveness. Forgiveness is a conscious, deliberate decision to free yourself. It starts by cultivating a feeling of love and compassion. By forgiving, you release attached feelings of resentment or vengeance. Then, you give yourself permission to accept what is and release your need to be right about the situation.
This Sunday, join Reverend Dennis Ashley for a lesson about using forgiveness to let go of deeply held negative feelings and set yourself free.
