Ecclesiastes 3 puts forth the idea that there is a season and a time for everything under heaven. This includes times to be born and to die, to plant and to uproot, to kill and to heal, to weep and to laugh, to mourn and to dance, etc. It emphasizes that these times and seasons are part of a divine order established by God. As a person of faith, you may trust that you were born to serve during this era. Yet it can be hard to face the idea of hardship and loss. In his book THE WILD EDGE OF SORROW, Francis Weller explores the profound and multifaceted nature of grief. He introduces the concept of the Five Gates of Grief, which delves into various aspects of loss and sorrow. He emphasizes that by embracing and befriending your grief, you can transform it into a powerful teacher, leading to deeper healing and connection.
