Redhawk, an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), has over 40 years of pastoral experience and has served in diverse settings like wilderness schools, halfway houses, mental hospitals, prisons, and jails. Viewed by some as a mystic, he identifies as a realist. He received the name Redhawk during a Vision Quest. Beyond ministry, he is a songwriter, the leader of the band Redhawk and Sweet Medicine (with Julie Croteau as a member), and the host of the podcast The Deep End on various streaming platforms. On Easter Sunday, Redhawk will be our guest speaker.

In the biblical passage John 12:24 Jesus addresses His disciples and others shortly before His crucifixion. The verse says: "Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." (NIV). The context of this verse is rich with meaning. In this verse, Jesus is speaking about His impending death and using this metaphor of the seed to explain the necessity and purpose of His sacrifice.

The cycle of death and rebirth is recognized by most world religions especially in the east. Yet, whether you believe in physical rebirth, it is easy to accept that there are times when things must end for other things to be born into being. In other words, we are continually re-birthing ourselves and this is truly a cause for celebration.

Join Redhawk Rice-Sauer on Easter Sunday for a message about "The Way" – the cycle of dying and renewal that is at the heart of Easter.
